How sustainable tanned leather enables a durable fashion world
In the fashion industry, everybody loves leather – the distinctive look, the luxurious feel and the hard-wearing items – even though leather production processes have always been a battle between quality and sustainability. This has been especially true in the last few years as consumers and ourselves have become increasingly aware of what we are wearing. This has led to increasing demand for high-quality leather that is sustainable at the same time. The sustainable Stahl EasyWhite Tan™ tanning system fully meets this development. It enables the creation of high-quality leather without compromising product quality and usability. It enables tanners to produce all types of metal-free leather to meet standard leather product specifications and more. With this innovative tanning system, frontrunner Stahl is leading the way to a more sustainable fashion world.
Moreover, the award winning Stahl EasyWhite Tan™ system also simplifies the tanning process, resulting in time and energy savings. The use of fewer chemicals, salt and water reduce the environmental impact. Thanks to its pearl white appearance, Stahl EasyWhite Tan™ is not only suited for dark-colored leather, but also for white and light colorings that last. On top of that, the tanned leather shows an extremely high skin tolerance. Taking all the product benefits into account, Stahl EasyWhite Tan™ is ideal for all kind of applications – from leather jackets, trousers and shoes, to bags, gloves and bracelets. Combined with the leather finishing you want, the possibilities in look and feel are endless.
Stahl contributes to the development of sustainable high fashion thanks to a new project and a peculiar partnership
Stahl teamed up with the Mongolian and Dutch government and several fashion brands to support Mongolian tanneries in becoming more sustainable. The result: Aduu Mal, a new quality label for sustainably produced leather fashion items. One of the key driving forces behind the project is Dutch fashion designer, Hans Ubbink. He is responsible for designing the Aduu Mal collection. The production process for products with this label is as sustainable as possible due to the fact that Stahl has provided training to the tanners about how chrome-free leather can be made using the Stahl EasyWhite Tan™ tanning method.
